Experience and Expertise

Elizabeth Swan focuses her practice on litigation, particularly family law, commercial litigation and civil appeals. Ms. Swan routinely represents clients in family matters of divorce, division of property, child custody and child support. Her practice extends throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area and North Texas, including the counties of Dallas, Collin, Tarrant, Denton, Rockwall and Lamar. In more complex divorce cases, Ms. Swan has experience valuing businesses and assets and negotiating property settlements. In simple or uncontested divorce cases, Ms. Swan is particularly conscious of client concerns regarding time and costs. Ms. Swan also has experience obtaining temporary restraining orders in cases involving family violence, child safety issues and urgent property matters.

Ms. Swan also devotes a significant portion of her practice to commercial litigation, with a focus on representing small businesses. She regularly handles matters involving delinquent accounts, contract disputes, personal guaranties and landlord-tenant issues. Ms. Swan has second chair trial experience representing both businesses and individuals in partnership disputes. She has obtained a six-figure judgment on behalf of a client in a dispute involving an investment in a land development project. Ms. Swan has extensive experience in complex commercial arbitration matters, and succeeded in defending a client to reduce the amount owed on a contract by over $1 million, or over 75%.

Ms. Swan has experience handling both state and federal court appeals. She has obtained reversal of a judgment of personal liability for her clients on a personal guaranty. Ms. Swan has also submitted briefing and attended oral argument to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Ms. Swan has been selected three times (2015-2017) to the prestigious Texas Rising Stars listing of the top young attorneys in the state by the editors of Thomson Reuters and published in Texas Monthly.
