Martha Hardwick Hofmeister has been trying business cases, negotiating agreements, and solving her clients’ legal problems in a cost-conscious and efficient manner since 1984. Ms. Hofmeister maintains a diverse legal practice representing both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts. Her clients include a variety of corporations and business owners, including professional service firms, real estate developers, manufacturers, health care companies, and financial institutions. Ms. Hofmeister has most recently represented clients in business and probate cases involving claims of negligence, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty and breach of contractual obligations.
In addition to litigation, Ms. Hofmeister’s experience includes providing counsel to businesses in litigation avoidance and employment practices, preparing and reviewing contracts, and assisting in all types of tactical business decisions. She has been named a Texas Super Lawyers Listing by Thomas Reuters Legal multiple times (2003-2007 and 2011-present) and has been selected to The Best Lawyers In America list in recognition of her work in the area of commercial litigation each year since 2012. She has been AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory each year since 1996 and has been named to the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers since 2012. Ms. Hofmeister has been a member of to the prestigious American Law Institute since 2005.
Ms. Hofmeister is active in numerous professional and community organizations and has received regional and national awards for public and charitable service, including recognition from the Presbyterian Communities and Services Foundation, the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers Foundation, the Federal Bar Association, the American Inns of Court, and the State Bar of Texas. Most notably, she received the honorary Distinguished Alumni Award from Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law in 2005.
Ms. Hofmeister has served as President of the William “Mac” Taylor, Jr. 112th American Inn of Court and is a past president and trustee of the Foundation of the Federal Bar Association. She has served on the local, district, and international levels as an officer, director, and committee chair for Altrusa International, Inc., a community service organization for executives and professionals, since 1986 and has been the Altrusa International Foundation’s legal advisor for more than a dozen years.
Perhaps most significantly, Ms. Hofmeister has been the director of the Bar None “follies” show, a fundraiser for the Dallas Bar Foundation, since its inception in 1986; to date, Bar None has raised approximately $1.9M for minority scholarships at three North Texas law schools, as it annually involves dozens of Dallas lawyers and judges as actors, singers, and dancers.

Ms. Hofmeister is married to Dallas lawyer and rock and roll musician, Kent Hofmeister. They have three cats and one dog; love to travel and spend time at their place on Lake Cypress Springs; and are “bonus” parents and grandparents. Ms. Hofmeister was born in the Panama Canal Zone, grew up in Central Florida, and considers herself to be a naturalized Texan.
